Nyoka Thoughts of the past and nightmares cloud my mind, So kiss me now, baby, and take them away.
A dark figure moved through the trees. Muscles rippled under the thick black pelt of the male wolf. Dim eyes were the only source of light in the entire forest, other than that of the fireflies whom were scattered throughout the woods. It seemed Nyoka was only here to hunt, as his body was low to the ground, and his pace was slow. His ears were pricked with alertness and his eyes darted from side to side as he watched. He was glad for the night vision. For a split second, Nyoka was surrounded by an electric blue. The color faded as quickly as it had come, and Nyoka continued to pace through the forest. All around him were trees. He'd come to know this place as Nightmare Forest, which seemed to fit him. Fours years old, Nyoka now saw himself fit to command a pack of his own. He stalked through the forest until he found the center. One tree, dead and bent to one side, stood taller than all of the others. A very old mark of ownership was scratched into the front of the tree. Nyoka jumped onto his rear legs and swiped his paw at the scratches, digging his claws into the old bark and leaving his own mark on the tree. From now on, anyone who made it far enough into these woods would know he was in charge. That is, if he didn't find them first.
Nyoka's mind was filled with memories. His eyes closed as he sank to the ground beside the old tree, and tried to forget. He didn't want to live in the past. Living was for the present. Only the dead in spirit were meant to live vicariously through their past. But what was he to do? With no mate, and still no pack, and one very large but very empty land he called his own....well, Nyoka had nothing to do except relive his past. He wish desperately, despite being much of a loner by ways of personality, for someone to cross his path. Be them male of female, he needed to speak, to have an actual conversation. Oh, how long it had been since he'd had a good conversation! But alas, Nyoka was still alone when he opened his eyes. Just himself and his dead tree. Would someone ever dare enter these woods? Would someone ever join his pack?
